2018 Fall Agenda

Monday, November 5, 2018

12 p.m. - 1 p.m. Working Lunch, Welcome and Introductions
1 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.            Roundtable with Lance Johnson, Executive Director, PCI Security Council
For the first time ever, the National Restaurant Association will host a representative of the PCI Security Standards Council at the Fall meeting. This is your chance to hear directly from their new executive director about his vision for the future of the PCI-DSS and share your observations -- and frustrations -- about the work of the council.
2:30 p.m. - 3 p.m. Networking Break
3 p.m. - 4 p.m. Website Accessibility Workshop with Steve Barshov, CEO, DigiPro Media and Adot Pro
Over the past few years, a number of restaurants have been sued for a lack of website accessibility, even though the American Disabilities Act (ADA) makes no mention of online activity. The National Restaurant Association has been active in the courts and on Capitol Hill to address this issue.
In the interim and to further assist our members, the National Restaurant Association has partnered with DigiPro to provide website accessibility consulting services at a low cost for our members. During this session, a representative of DigiPro will provide critical guidance and insights about how to make your website accessible to people with disabilities.
4 p.m. - 5 p.m. Briefing by U.S. Secret Service's Electronic Crimes Task Force
The U.S. Secret Service maintains a nationwide network of Electronic Crime Task Forces (ECTF) across 30 cities, including Dallas. These groups bring together state, local and federal law enforcement with prosecutors and private industry to combat online criminal activity including computer system intrusions and data breaches; phishing schemes; and identity theft.
William Noonan, Special Agent in Charge of the North Texas, Dallas Field Office, will brief attendees on the work of ECTF as well as on recent trends in online criminal activity. SA Noonan will also provide insights on how to forge a relationship with your local ECTF office before an incident occurs.
6 p.m. - 8 p.m. Group Dinner
The Network Bar, 331 Singleton Blvd.
Attendees will enjoy a Texas steak dinner at the exclusive, technology-focused Network Bar, which is a new members-only concept developed by Stuart Fitts and Phil Romano, the creator of some of the most successful national restaurant chains. The Network Bar is normally a members-only club, so the National Restaurant Association is excited to host our IT ESG attendees for this special event. Tuesday, November 6, 2018

7:30 a.m. - 8:30 a.m. Breakfast
8:30 a.m. - 10 a.m. California Privacy Act (CaCPA) of 2018 and the European Union's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Implications for Restaurant IT Practices
Earlier this year, CA state legislature passed the nation's toughest data privacy law, which will have wide implications for the restaurant industry when it goes into effect in January 2020, especially as it relates to IT and marketing practices. It is widely expected that other states will adopt similar legislation next year and beyond. This activity in CA is in addition to different IT compliance requirements concerning the EU's GDPR.
At this session, attendees will develop a solid understanding of both CaCPA and GDPR, how they are similar and different, as well as what each may entail for restaurant IT operations no matter where your restaurants are located.

4 p.m. - 5 p.m. IT Executive Study Group Business Meeting
The National Restaurant Association is pleased to announce its new, improved approach to Executive Study Groups, including the IT ESG.
